How we pick products

There are no product recommendations on the site yet. When they are added, they will follow these rules.

Selection

• Products are chosen against the specifications that matter for seedlings: fixture length against shelf width, brightness, adjustable hanging, linkability, power rating and plug type.
• Horticulture requirements come from university extension sources, which are linked.
• Listings are read for specifications, current ratings and customer questions. Complaints about safety or durability count against a product.

Testing claims

• A page will only say "we tested" or "I tested" if I used the product myself. Otherwise it will say the picks are based on specifications and listing information.
• Each product page shows the date it was last checked.

Money

• Some links may earn a commission, which is explained in the affiliate disclosure.
• Commission does not decide which product ranks first. A product that does not meet the specifications is not listed, whatever it pays.
